Counter-power: March For Our Lives
Generation Lockdown - March For Our Lives
This ad was created by an advertising agency called McCann in New York and was then made viral by March For Our Lives under #GenerationLockdown. The video depicts an all-staff office training meeting in National City, California, where an "expert" on active shooter drills was invited to train the workers. It turns out the "expert" is actually a middle school girl named Kayleigh. Moreover, she teaches the adults how to protect themselves in the event of a school shooting by instructing them with a frighting step by step, illustrated by a song they have learned at school, on the actions that need to be taken in this type of urgent situation. She proceeds by telling them how to recognise gunfire, how to hide and protect the doorways. When she states how gunfire sounds, an image of the victims of school shootings and those mourning them is shown. Furthermore we are told that 95% of public school students in the USA have to practise lockdown drills at their schools. The target of this spot is for the public to learn about the S.42 Background Check Expansion Act which prohibits a firearm transfer between private parties unless a licensed gun dealer, manufacturer, or importer first takes posession of the firearm to conduct a background check.
Well done overall (even though the first part could have been further developed).
